On to Winslow, AZ and down Route 66

Two more things to check off my bucket list.

Next stop, Winslow, AZ., and, a side trip down Route 66.
While staying at Crater RV Park we took a couple side trips. It was a blast getting to stand on the corner of Winslow, AZ, and, got pictures to prove it. I did get a T-Shirt, but, when we got home I realized I got an X-Large. Why? I have no idea. Needless to say, David got two T-Shirts.

At the other end of town was a monument to 9-11. These are two pieces of steel from those towers. It will stop you in your tracks when you're standing next to them.

Trying to catch up

Going to try to catch up on our trip to the West. After Carlsbad we headed to Albuquerque, NM for a nights stay at the Casino RV Park. I would highly recommend this park, it's new, clean, and, a perfect location. On our way we got snowed on, sleeted on, and, the next morning we couldn't see very far due to fog.

Then it was on to Arizona.
Some of wacky things on the side of the highway.
This is the highest part of Arizona. I made the pic bigger to show the simile face at the pike. Can you see it?

Then on to Meteor Crater and the sunset from our RV space at Crater RV Resort.

Check out the middle of the Crater, it's hard to see, but, there is an American Flag, and, a life size Astronaut hanging on the fence around the mine shaft.
This is the center of the Crater with my zoom lens. Look to the right of the white area (shaft entry) on the fence, and, you can see the flag, and, Astronaut. The only way to see it is using a zoom lens or the little looking scope they have there.

We stayed at this RV park for 3 days in order to take a trip down parts of Route 66, and, go to Winslow. Perfect place to stay, and, take some off the highway side trips.

Carlsbad Caverns

March 27th.
David and I visited the Caverns when we were kids, so, we're excited to how much it's changed. More like what we could remember.
It was beautiful to say the least. The colors, formations, and, the experience of being in the Cave was amazing. Have to say it was better the second time around. Not sure if it was we were older, or, we didn't have siblings to fight with. Got to love vacations when you were kids. lol
We spent a little more time in the Caverns than we anticipated, about 2 1/2 hours longer. Sometime on our way to the bottom, the only elevator working, BROKE. Only way out, WALK OUT. Even though this did not trill me, it was better than being the 8 people stuck in that elevator somewhere between the bottom and the top. We didn't find out till later on the News, they not only got stuck, they had to be lifted out via ropes and harnesses. Walking out wasn't so bad after all.

Wow, what a great place to visit. So glad we put Carlsbad Caverns on our to do list.
