Trip out West March/April2018 Amarillo, TX

March 21st, 2018, headed out West. This is the first pic of our new RV. We took two trips in the other RV, and, traded up to this one. David is hoping this is not a trend. 

First stop, Amarillo, Tx. 
We stayed at Overnight RV Park in Amarillo for two nights. It was an OK park, but, not a place I would like to stay for an extended period of time. It looked like there were a lot of people that live there full time, and, it hadn't been updated in a while. 
Day one we headed to Cadillac Ranch to do some art work. We have passed by this place several times in the past, but, never stopped. Well, this was time. If you get the chance when going through Amarillo, STOP. It's just West of town right off I-40. It was fun taking the spray cans, and, going wild. Take the time to read some of Graffiti, it's amazing how many foreigners have stopped, and, signed the cars.

We also had to stop at The Big Texan Steak House right off I-40. Trust me, you can't miss it. We didn't try the 72oz steak, so, needless to say, we paid for our dinner. It might be more hype than good, but, I was worth the stop.

While in Amarillo, we took a side trip to Palo Doro Canyon. It's just a short drive outside of town. We had no idea what to expect, but, it was prettier than we could have imagined. 

It was a great start to an amazing trip out West. I know some of you have been a part of my Facebook page, and, I'm glad you are joining me on my blog. I will be adding a lot more pictures on the blog than I did on Facebook. So, I hope you enjoy them.

What it's all about

What I plan on sharing with you in my stories is, fun, adventures, lots of pictures, and, some of the crazy quirky things you find driving the roads of America. Highways, Byways, Interstates, and, lots of backroads. When traveling to places you have never been, you never know what's around the next corner. That's where our adventures begin.

Since we travel via our Motorhome, I'll also be sharing where we have stayed, and, what we thought about the RV Parks, State Parks, and, dry camping along the way. We have stayed in good ones, BAD ones, and, so, so, ones. Keep in mind, these are our opinions, and, in no way are we trying to sway you to stay, or, not to stay in these parks.

There are so many RV clubs you can join, and, these are the ones we are members. Sam's Club, KOA, Passport America, and, AARP. Again, these are the clubs we use, but, don't dismiss the others that are out there. There are also so many apps you can download into your phone to assists you in places to stay, weather forecasts, traffic in the areas you are driving, road construction, GPS, places to eat, places to visit, and, the list goes on, and, on. The bottom line, use the ones that are best for you, and, gives you the best discount for the way you travel. If you have a site that works for you, let me know. I love to have as much information at hand to help us long the way. 

I'm getting some posts, and, (lots) of pictures together to share, but, just like the way we travel, I'm not getting in a hurry. 

I will also be working backwards, newer to older, with these first posts until I get caught up.

Truth, I'm still going through disks trying to find the disk I put last years trips on. It's an age thing.

WELCOME

Welcome to Hembree's RV Adventures. 

David (Husband), and, I (Sandy) have been traveling across the United States for the past two years in our Motorhome.
We are not full timers, but, when the urge hits, we hit the road. 
This is our first Motorhome we purchased in 2016 right after hubby retired. It was a Coachman 21R. 

We had no idea what we were getting into, but, we jumped in with both feet. We took two trips in this RV.

Our first trip in 2016 was to the Great Lakes area for 2 weeks. Our second trip in the Coachman was up East. We went through 22 states, stayed in Talladega for a week for the NASCAR race, then home. This trip is where the Adventure in the title came from. It was one adventure after another. I was AMAZING. We were sold on RV traveling.
One thing this long trip taught us, we needed a larger RV. That's when we upgraded to a Class A Thor 25.2. 
We have now taken several trips, meet some amazing people, saw places we both had on our bucket lists, and, have had a blast. 

I have a lot of catching up to do, stories to tell, pictures to post, so, hold on, and, enjoy the ride.
